The self-proclaimed Prince of SA rap is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. On a seemingly endless winning streak of awards and accolades and with his most recent game-changing move – no, not the mouth full of gold – but his ‘Jealousy’ video, AKA has just dropped another banger featuring none other than Da Les called ‘Kontrol’.
The song is produced by AKA himself, who seems to be taking on a more hands-on approach to his music with this being the second song since ‘Jealousy’ that he’s produced for himself. It also features a contribution from keyboardist and composer, Mpilo Shabangu (@MasterFlat on Twitter) on the beat.
We can’t say we never saw this collaboration coming. The two rappers seem to be really cosy of late, once posting an image of themselves chilling at a in New York club last year popping bottles and doing all that other cool shit that rappers get to do while we sit in front of our laptops and write about it. AKA and Les also starred among other stars in the SABC 1 Tropica Island reality show together, shot over a few weeks in Jamaica. We’re just glad that something productive came out of basking in the sun surrounded by beautiful women in bikinis all day… Who would’ve thought?
