You heard right: your favorite annual street dance competition, Masters of Rhythm: Reincarnation, is back by popular demand!
After nationwide auditions were held in Gauteng, Durban, Cape Town and PE, some of SA’s finest dancers are set to compete for coveted titles on 27 August under the categories All Styles, Popping, B-Boy, Duos and Crews. As usual, all other elements of hip hop such as poetry, MC-ing, DJ-ing and graffiti will be catered. Over 1000 fans and first-time spectators are expected to fill the Wits Great Hall in the spirit of celebrating MOR’s 10-year anniversary. Although the event remained dormant for four years due to financial constraints, the interest in MOR remains strong.
“We’re back, peeps, and we’re giving you nothing but raw, uncensored, unfiltered skill for MOR 2016: Reincarnation. No wannabes or biters were allowed; only the real deal.” founding director, Mernoly Simba
It goes without saying that MOR has an exciting history of hosting one of the coolest youth events in South Africa, and it’s a reputation they’re working hard on rebuilding.
To add to the excitement, the phenomenal Jabba, Reason and Ashley are this year’s headlining acts. Popular female MC Rouge and rapper-businessman, Slikour will hold it down as your hosts.
Spectators can get in on the fun by buying tickets for R150 at the door at the Wits Great Hall in Braamfontein before 2pm, and at R200 thereafter.
