Rap group Ill Skillz have been holding down Cape Town for the past 10 years, believe it or not. From the countless performances all around the continent over the past decade; to sharing stages with international talents including Mos Def, Slum Village, DJ Premier and Kendrick Lamar; and their music offering Another Day, Another Rhyme EP, Battle of Gugulethu, Off The Radar , Skillz That Pay Da Billz and Notes From the Native Yardz, their impact on the rap game, especially earlier on, is unquestionable.
Last week, one half of the duo, Uno July made his first solo impression on the game with the release of his EP Best Kept Secret. The 7-track tape is partly soulful partly experimental as far as sonics are concerned, with content-heavy rhymes and contagious melodies.
