MTV Drop 2013 Hottest MC’s List

The numbers are in and the list has been laid out. Every year MTV is the cause of much commotion for this list, harnessing responses from rap enthusiasts and actual rappers alike. Of the latter group, none other than Kanye West (surprise surprise) was the first to speak out, protesting that Big Sean deserved to be in the top five for the amazing verses he’s spit in the past year; and that according to Yeezy, Wayne is the hottest rapper around at the moment. Knowing Mr Kardashian, there’s no way he would complete a rant without giving himself a pat on the shoulder. ‘Ye went on to say that his line on ‘Cold’ “Lucky I aint have Jay drop his from the team” (referring to Kris Humphries – Kim Kardashian’s sour ex-husband) was the hardest bar of the past twelve months; and alluded that his verse on Rihanna’s ‘Diamond’ (remix) was incredible.

“”Yeah #7 bothers me. I think that Wayne is the #1 rapper in the world…him and Jay and Em and certain people are trust the greatest rappers of all time,” he said. “For me, I feel like in order for them to put me at #7, they had to bring up things that they didn’t like – [like] the Cruel Summer album. And I’m like, that’s a compilation, it ain’t all rappers on G.O.O.D. Music…they want to diss me and be like, ‘He did Cruel Summer and he can’t say he ain’t a part of it because he’s on eight records’…There wasn’t no verse in a year that was fuckin’ with that Diamonds remix verse. [their decision] definitely not based on a body of work. ”

‘Ye continued: “Possibly it could just be like overall rap-emcee swag. Sean is a great rapper, period; he checks all the boxes. What happens with type of judges and the people that review this is, when I came through with the pink Polo and the backpack then I’m checkin’ all the boxes of that Tribe Called Quest era and J-Dilla and all that so they wanna champion it. They don’t like Givenchy Kanye. They don’t like Kanye in a quilt. They don’t like Kanye in a relationship.”

If he didn’t go far enough with the rant already, ‘Ye went on to finish off MTV’s Sway by saying “I couldn’t believe it, I gave Sway his first TV. He came over to my crib in Newark, New Jersey… I was making beats for Jay and Beanz and them living in New Jersey… I was getting a new TV and I gave Sway his first TV. And I didn’t really wanna call in to talk about this number 7 list or whatever, I just wanted to let yall know that I gave Sway his first TV.”

Cole and A$AP Rocky have also spoken out on the list and as you can imagine, none of it is good either.
