Youngboi OG (real name Geraldo Gershwin Saal) is an 18-year-old rapper, singer, and songwriter from Aggeneys, Northern Cape, South Africa. He has quickly become one of the most promising young voices in the country’s evolving hip-hop scene, known for blending drill, trap, and melodic rap with deep emotional storytelling.
He was born on September 3, 2007, Youngboi OG started making music in his early teens and built his sound from his bedroom using the BandLab app. His raw, self-produced tracks captured the attention of local listeners, and by 2023 he released his first single, I’ve been traumatized, followed by the independent EP The Greatest of Me.
His big break came in 2024 with the single How can I love?, which went viral and introduced him to an international audience. You can listen to it on Spotify here: How can I love? – Single. Later that year, he also released the drill-inspired single Another Love, sampling the Tom Odell track of the same name.

In December 2024, Youngboi OG released his debut studio album From Vision To Reality, followed by his 2025 project Sins & Serotonin. His lyrics often explore themes of love, mental health, and self-growth, drawing comparisons to global emo-rap artists while maintaining a uniquely African sound.
“I’m just telling my story the best way I can,” he said in a recent interview. “I’m proud to represent Aggeneys and South Africa — that’s where my heart is.”
As South African hip-hop continues to expand globally, Youngboi OG stands out as one of its youngest trailblazers — an artist who proves that authenticity and emotion can travel far beyond borders.
