Back to the City International Festival is taking it back with the legendary Trompies officially joining the 2026 line-up for the festival’s Heritage Slot.
Celebrating the sounds and artists that shaped South African music and culture, the Heritage Slot is the perfect space to honour a group whose Kwaito classics helped define an entire generation. Trompies join Slum Village, Blu & Exile, Just Sam, Mfana Touchline, Lacabra and Tshego Santana for a line-up connecting different generations and sounds under one roof.
Back to the City 2026 takes place on 10 October at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown, Johannesburg
