Forget the gym. Red Bull Agri-Grit is taking fitness back to its roots by transforming a working farm into the ultimate test of strength, endurance and grit. On Saturday, 8 August, Middelwater Plaas outside Bloemfontein becomes the battleground for a one-day competition inspired by the demanding work that’s shaped generations of Free State farmers.
Competitors will go head-to-head in a 1v1, time-based challenge, tackling farm-inspired stations that reward both speed and efficiency. It’s not just about finishing first—it’s about working smarter under pressure.
Designed by South African obstacle-racing athlete and Red Bull Rancher Strong champion Thomas van Tonder, the course draws directly from real-life farm labour. Expect heavy lifting, hauling, carrying and loading—everyday farming tasks reimagined into a brutal test of physical and mental toughness.
The full course remains under wraps, with teasers dropping ahead of the event. One thing is certain: even the fittest athletes can expect to be humbled.
Red Bull Agri-Grit is open to anyone aged 18 and over, whether you’re a farmer, fitness fanatic or simply looking to push your limits. The challenge runs from 10:00–17:00 at Middelwater Plaas, Bloemfontein. Spectators of all ages are welcome.
