1619 – A Testament to Collective Greatness

1619 is a collective of pure talent, and this album is all the proof you need.  An eight-track project packed with sharp lyricism, solid beat selection, rich cultural references, dance elements, and top-tier features. From what I know, the crew has about ten members — now just imagine how tough it must’ve been to trim down verses and leave certain songs off this project.

With an open mind, this album challenges you to listen musically. It’s not just bars and beats; it’s an experience. As a hip-hop head, you might raise an eyebrow at a few joints — especially track three, “Must Die,” and track six, “Everyday. They lean more into dance and house vibes than straight rap. But honestly, they’re not bad — just different, showing range and versatility.

My personal favorite? “Food4thot. That track got me in a chokehold. It’s rare for me to fall in love with a song on first listen, but the storytelling, flow, and delivery here are elite. Gusto, Baba Kushi, Alto, and Kijana Damu remind us exactly why hip-hop is such a beautiful artform.

Another standout is “Mandoza Chiskop. The blend of kasi and suburban energy hits perfectly, maybe it’s the title, maybe it’s the jazz elements laced through it. Either way, it’s a well-structured record that demands attention, with Dome Yahshua, Gusto, Alto, Kijana Damu, and Sizi S all going crazy on it.

There are so many hidden gems across this project — do yourself a favor and tap in. Hip-hop is truly in good hands.
