To celebrate the tip-off of the NBA’s 80th season — launching October 21 on ESPN, Amazon Prime Video, and NBA League Pass — NBA Africa pulled up with a slick pop-up experience at the Castle Lite Experience during Travis Scott’s Maximus Circus Tour at FNB Stadium this past Saturday.
Hosted by Jerome “Slim” Du Plooy, the NBA Fan Box fused basketball, fashion, and music into one immersive space. The setup featured a mocha replica of Travis Scott’s G-Wagon, NBA 2K gaming, exclusive merch drops, fan trivia, and mini hoop challenges. Lucky fans even walked away with NBA League Passes, Cactus Jack sneakers, and limited-edition gear. The activation proved that being a fan goes beyond the game — it’s about the culture that connects us from start to finish.
For those new to the movement, the National Basketball Association (NBA) is more than just a league — it’s a global powerhouse uniting fans across 214 countries. With over 125 international players from 43 nations, and more than 2.5 billion social followers, the NBA continues to lead not only in sport but in community impact through NBA Cares initiatives worldwide.
And as the new season tips off, the stakes couldn’t be higher — LeBron James is chasing one last ring, Steph Curry and the Warriors are hungry for redemption, and the Lakers–GSW showdown early in the season is already shaping up to be a defining moment for basketball fans everywhere.
