The consistency and love for the culture are the reasons why there have been Perfect Noise Sessions for six years in a row.
Celebrating their 50th edition, they announced some mouthwatering lineups. While not the entire lineup has been revealed, some of the artists are already known for their talent in the BW hip-hop community. Ban-T and Veezo View are familiar names to South Africans and have been exposed to most of our Botswana Connect.
Taurin, the rapper who was featured on the all-female BW Cypher, will also be performing. This promises to be one of the best editions based on the hype and conversations we see on social media. Haze, Taffiny, Nacoticsero and Spidey have also been recently announced, demonstrating that they are bringing all the talent to this celebration and making history.
Now as you know who is performing, let see the people who contributed to perfect noise
Pimz is the graphic designer of the organization and designs the flyers. We have two sets of flyers; we have the main flyer which showcases the headliner of the show and leading up to the day of the show, we drop individual posters of the people that will be part of the line-up.
Lawson, this is the current event DJs that play the backing tracks of artists and background music during the intervals of performances.
Lamont Loeto, who goes by the name Monsieur Lamont, is our former resident videographer. He began collaborating with Perfect Noise in October of 2022 and shot high-definition quality videos of all the show performances in full. He took over from our previous videographers, Arturo Alvarez and Jessica Carter. As of November 2023, our co-organizer Kizito Bonna has taken Lamont’s place as videographer.
Junior and Pixie are akin to family to Perfect Noise and aid in supplying memorable images of show moments. They always make alterations to their own work. A prime example of this is the introduction of Perfect Noise having backdrop portraits of artists and attendees. This initiated with the November 2021 show featuring Roxii up until present time.
Pixie has been the heartbeat of The Perfect Noise Sessions as our resident MC for the past three years. Pixie introduces performances, keeps the crowd energized and excited. Her ability to interact with diverse audiences have made her an indispensable part of our events.
Shathiso Aaron and Manyane Olebile have provided both the sound equipment and the rehearsal space, allowing headliners to practice four times before their shows Previously, Manyane, the technical audio manager at the University of Botswana, assisted us throughout 2022. We continue to offer shows where the headliner can perform with a live band or over their backing tracks/instrumentals.
Reba, who is an artist thar goes by FyeFae (Instagram handle @fyefae) is our stage manager. She assists with preparing the artists on the line up with performance skills. She also makes sure that the stage requirements from performances are met, whether it be the amount of mic stands used, stools. She has the most interaction when it comes to dealing with performers.
Natalie (Instagram handle @fyefae) assists her as the assistant stage manager and decor. Pixie and Junior contribute to this as well. This is incase Reba is overwhelmed with duties or is not available. Reba notes the order in which performers are about to get on stage and directs them to where they should wait until then.
Stevie G, Mouzai and Goth Rose assist as ticket ushers as they check who has a show ticket in their possession or if they do not. If not, they hand them out to patrons with a wristband tag souvenir. This is to ensure security and control of the attendees.
For five years, Zest Restaurant was our home. Their generous staff welcomed us with open arms, becoming a second family to our team and artists. Their support and kindness, including their decision to never charge us for the venue, allowed us the freedom to fully express our creativity and passion for music
Over the past six months, Gaborone Yacht Club has hosted us, providing a stunning backdrop that has enhanced our shows. The breathtaking view complemented our events perfect. They also still were allowing us to fully express ourselves
So now let’s hop on the background of the event because it’s a good thing to know more about this events and people who are contributing.
Perfect Noise was founded by Tiisetso Mathole, Phenyo Kenosi, Kizito Bonna, and his brother Pimz. Mathole’s journey into the world of live performances began in high school and continued through his university days. His passion for open mic shows, music showcases, poetry sessions, and workshops fueled his desire to create a platform where individuals could showcase their talents in a supportive environment. The concept for Perfect Noise was inspired by a friend, Mino, who ran a similar event called Sunday Candy. Mino’s decision to end the show deeply affected Mathole, who was present at every event. Mino’s encouragement and the support of the owners of Zest restaurant led him to realize his vision, and thus, the planning for Perfect Noise began.
By August 2018, the team hosted their first show, marking the beginning of their adventure. Since then, the organisers have embraced the lessons that come with experience. Through trial and error, they have refined their approach, understanding what works best and what does not. Initially, Perfect Noise started as an open mic show. In this format, artists would sign up on the day of the event and perform. However, this system was eventually phased out in favor of a more structured approach. The new system requires artists to submit their music links through Perfect Noise’s pages. The team reviews these submissions to determine if they align with the theme and vibe of a given month’s show. This streamlined process ensures that each performance is well-curated and contributes to the overall quality of the event.
Perfect Noise has cultivated a youthful atmosphere. The environment is vibrant and welcoming, with a blend of different aesthetics that appeal to diverse audiences. The community is friendly, fostering an inclusive space where young talents and established artists can mingle. This sense of camaraderie and mutual support has been a cornerstone of Perfect Noise’s success.
If you are a fan of the culture and enjoy music, I recommend following the fantastic team on social media to see their contributions to the culture in BW. They will be out at the @gaboroneyachtclub on the 25th of August from 3pm-7pm.
