NBA Africa and Cotton Fest, an annual festival that showcases the diversity of South Africa’s various music genres, celebrates fashion and sport. They will host 3-on-3 basketball games featuring local basketball talent, a celebrity game headlined by some of SA’s biggest podcasters, and an NBA Store fashion show featuring the latest NBA merchandise. The festival will take place at The Station in Newtown, Johannesburg this Saturday.
NBA Africa has brought the dunks and beats together and curated a line-up of activities for basketball fans during the festival. The celebrity game will feature Robot Boii, Mpho Popps, Tsitsi, Pharoahfi, and Primo9teen taking on Kitso, Kabelo Moremi, Erratic, Mokgethwa, and Mkay Fresh. Both teams not only represent some of South Africa’s most influential young voices but are also known advocates for the game and the culture that lives beyond the court.
This year’s Cotton Fest builds on NBA Africa’s longstanding presence in South Africa and previous sports, entertainment, and lifestyle initiatives. NBA Africa has organized three sold-out NBA Africa Games (2015, 2017 and 2018), the launch of three NBA Stores in Johannesburg (2022), Durban and Cape Town (2023), and last month’s Basketball Africa League’s (BAL) inaugural Kalahari Conference group phase at SunBet Arena in Pretoria.
