Usimamane is the artist to check out.

The South African hip-hop scene is seeing a surge of new talent with diverse sounds, and it’s exciting to witness the contributions they’re bringing to the table. One of these rising stars is Umlazi-born rapper, Usimamane, who recently impressed me at a listening session where he performed. He owned the stage with his music, and the audience’s reaction was proof of his talent.

Usimamane was born in 2003 in Umlazi, Durban, and was immersed in a musical environment from a young age due to his family’s musical background. He grew up listening to a variety of artists including Drake, 50 Cent, The Game, Brenda Fassie and Boom Shaka, who ignited his passion for music. His hometown’s rich musical culture further fueled his journey to becoming an artist

What sets Usimamane apart is his unique style that blends rap and trap with R&B melodies, resonating with his background’s struggles and aspirations. He describes his style as “Fate music,” which embodies hope, joy, and inspiration, aiming to uplift and motivate people from all walks of life. His influences range from Young Thug, Meek Mill, and Gunna to Nasty C, bringing a fresh perspective to the music scene.

You’ve been seeing his snippets, you heard his music, and homie is about to drop new music soon so be on the lookout.

Usimamane’s work ethic is impeccable, and he does not shy away from dropping freestyles for his fans to keep them engaged, setting him apart from other rappers. I believe he is the future of South African hip-hop, and brands will invest in his talent.
