Every season, we come across talented rappers. Some have been around for a while, while others are new to the scene. Some have been consistently dropping high-quality raps without hesitation. If you’re familiar with the South African rap scene, you’ll know StaticFlo. She was born in Port Elizabeth but is now based in Johannesburg, where she’s pursuing her dreams and contributing to the country’s hip-hop culture.
StaticFlo has released two full projects so far, showcasing her artistry and proving why she deserves to be counted among the best rappers in South Africa. In 2020, she dropped “The Competition,” a 15-track album featuring REASON, Kurushah, Lubah, and Amyoli, who delivered powerful vocals on “Pillow”. In 2022, she followed up with “IPHUPHA,” another beautiful 8-track project that showcased a different side of StaticFlo than the one we saw on “The Competition”.
One thing you can’t deny about StaticFlo is her perfect rap instincts, lyrical flow, and beat selection. Not many rappers in the game can maintain good breath control and switch up their flow like she does. You can tell it comes from experience and being exposed to good MCs.
StaticFlo continues to put in hard work throughout the year, staying relevant and being active in promoting Women in HipHop. She’s performed on bigger stages in South Africa, appeared on national television and radio, and has been featured in big certified hip-hop publications like Hype Magazine.
Overall, StaticFlo is an amazing female hip-hop artist, podcaster, radio host, and event organizer. We should celebrate her and give her the recognition she deserves while she’s still here with us. Check her social pages, show her love, and check out the video below.
