Cassper Nyovest’s new single is a return to rappity raps for the hip-hop superstar who’s been having fun with amapiano, a genre he has shown a serious liking to and even appearing as he had turned on hip-hop.
‘Put Your Hands Up’ is the third South African hip-hop song to sample ‘Ooh Song’ by Mousse T (who’s listed as a feature); it was previously sampled by Buks on ‘Gangster Party’ and Tweezy for DJ Sliqe’s ‘Mzonkonko’ featuring Blaklez and Ginger Trill.
For ‘Put Your Hands Up’, Alie Keyz bolsters the popular sample with a big kick and explosive chants that create fervent energy that matches Cass’ raps.
Cassper shared yesterday that he hasn’t been inspired to make hip-hop music in a while. “Everything felt repetitive and young. I woke up one day and decided to rap my age,” he said.
