Two generations of Pretoria hip-hop connect on ‘Alive’, a single by veterans Blaklez and PDOT O alongside Jay Jody.
Blaklez, PDOT O and Jay Jody remind you that Pretoria isn’t called Cap City ‘Rap City’ for nothing as they each serve bars over a street-centric instrumental.
PDOT O, in the first verse, reveals he’s still rapping with the same ferocity of his youth: “Still rappin’ like I’m 16/ Fuck it, got my 16s blazin’ out the split-screen” while Jay Jody claims the old school spirit, rapping, “I’m old school hip-hop like Siz’ and Scoop/ Peace to Zeus, y’all gave us a reason to.” Jay Jody’s verse further impresses when he imitates both PDOT O and Blaklez in just four bars.

Blaklez handles the hook and also spits his verse in Sepitori.
Blaklez and PDOT O are due to drop a follow-up to their 2020 joint album Lost Diamonds sometime this year.
