Sjava has just dropped off a new EP today called Umsebenzi that consists of just 4 tracks in total with no mentioned features. Just 2 days ago he celebrated his Birthday and this new body of work can be viewed as a celebration of that but beyond that, it’s sounding like a very uplifting experience thus far. You might have followed the recent abuse situations Sjava’s career went through for a while which honestly found his reputation taking a hit before the case was eventually thrown out. Umsebenzi almost feels like a restart (thus the title which means “work” or a Zulu cultural “ritual”) in a way and how you absorb it will depend on your perception of him is at the moment.
