Cape Town-based singer/songwriter & producer Nalu has just dropped her new single called ‘water-based’ today which is said to be “a soulful, honest expression of what it means to give love to another without experiencing any loss of self”. She shared the release of this song earlier this week and it’s sounding exactly as described… “soulful & expressively honest”. This song is also said to be a piece that developed from Nalu’s RedBull Music #Swift16 feature back in September 2019.
Nalu also plans to bring the song to life with a music video that will air in the upcoming months but to celebrate women during Women’s Month, this new Nalu song is meant to honour and uplift oneself (by celebrating our womanhood and how we love).
“…‘Water’ represents the fluid motion of intimacy between lovers, whilst ‘water-based’ captures the organic and effortless nature of their connection. The instrumental is an airy, lofi rendition of soul sounds with bluesy undertones from which Nalu draws her inspiration. Through her writing, she paints the essence of a selfless yet, empowering love. “I honour myself as I honour you. I celebrate myself as I celebrate you. The Divine in me recognizes the Divine in you.” – Nalu
