Jabulile Majola Expands Ipasi With Four New Tracks on Deluxe Edition

Jabulile Majola has released the deluxe edition of his critically acclaimed album Ipasi, expanding the original 11-track project to 15 songs.

Since its release on 11 September, the album has gained almost six million streams and appeared on major streaming charts across South Africa. The deluxe edition introduces two new songs, “Nyana Ka Maria” and “Uhebe”, alongside “Nyoni Yami (Live)” and an extended version of “uJakalasi”. The focus track, “Nyana Ka Maria”, is a deeply personal reflection on faith, doubt and grace, capturing the space between prayer and silence before arriving at a quiet willingness to serve.

Meaning “ID document”, Ipasi explores identity, growth, change, love, heartbreak, vulnerability and gratitude. Building on the foundation of his 2025 debut Isitifiketi, Majola uses the album to reflect on the experiences that shape who we become. His Afro-folk and Afro-soul sound is enriched by acoustic guitars, warm cellos, brass arrangements and subtle maskandi influences. Recorded across Cape Town, KwaZulu-Natal, Johannesburg and London, the project features collaborations with Thando Zide and Lia Butler, with additional contributions from Ross Dorkin, Gregory Abrahams and Akeedah Keet. One of its most personal moments is “Hope”, the album’s only English-language track, dedicated to his late sister.

The deluxe release arrives after a landmark run for Majola, which has included a sold-out national tour, listening sessions and press appearances in Cape Town, Johannesburg and London, as well as a performance at WOMEX in Spain and a sold-out London show. He has also shared the first teaser footage of an upcoming documentary exploring his story. With Ipasi Deluxe, Majola continues to invite listeners into an honest journey of becoming, reminding us that music does not always have to offer an escape. Sometimes, it simply needs to meet us where we are.
