Its no secret that South Africa is currently under a dark cloud with all that has happened and is currently happening especially towards the women… Its sad that the recent murder of Cape Town student #UyineneMrwetyana sparked what has now been dubbed the #AmINext movement that finds many women going to social media to not only expose their rapists but speak out about how unsafe/vulnerable they feel in South Africa. The #AmINext hashtag has already gained national attention as women continue to share their stories about getting raped, abused, kidnapped, killed and more.
Early last month we ran a cover story titled #BlameNoMore in collaboration with the Tears Foundation which is a story that highlights how a culture of victim-blaming thrives in SA that you can check out here.
