Last night AFROPUNK held a line-up announcement party for the upcoming #AFROPUNKJHB festival in Braamfontein. During the night it was then revealed that this year the likes of Solange, Miguel, Masego, Rico Nasty, Nao, Gold Link, Sho Madjozi, Zoe Modiga and more will be the headline acts for this year’s festival. The festival is set to take place at Constitution Hill on 30 and 31 December. The news of Solange hit home for many as she was initially supposed to headline the first fest in 2017 but couldn’t make it, then 2018 came and she wasn’t on although she promised to be there. Now 2019 seems to be the year that will finally have her grace a stage in Joburg. Last year’s edition was headlined by the likes of Kaytranada, The Internet, Flying Lotus, Muzi, Thandiswa and a whole lot more. The tickets for 2019 show are already available here and prices range from R600 (General Access Advance Single Day) to R1,100 (for General Access Advance Two Day Pass) and up to R2,900 (for VIP access Two Day Pass).

AFROPUNK is an annual festival that takes place in Paris, Brooklyn, Atlanta, and Johannesburg. This unique festival is defining culture by the collective creative actions of the individual and the group. It is a safe place, a blank space to freak out in, to construct a new reality, to live your life as you see fit while making sense of the world around you.
Furthermore the live performances will just be a fraction of the fun this year on Constitution Hill at #AFROPUNKJoburg. There will also be dynamic speakers, mouthwatering cuisines, curated vendors and more. Battle of the Bands is back to give a chance to perform on the AFROPUNK Joburg stage. This year, GrapevineTV joins in on the fun with a live discussion, Solution Sessions will be on the grounds ready to inspire and activate us all, and vendors from SpinThrift Market and Bites&Beats will be on standby ready to keep you stocked up and fed with goods from our amazing community. Last but not least, the AFROPUNK Army will be returning with chances for everyone to give back and get back by earning a ticket through volunteer work. To find out more you can also click here.
