Cape Town’s very own Dope Saint Jude, who has been credited for “transforming South African hip hop by challenging a genre which was predominantly male and heteronormative” recently dropped off a new single called ‘Grrrl Like’. Taking her name from the Christian apostle, inspired by rap legend 2Pac, Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison and the US Nothwest’s iconic Riot Grrrl feminist movement, she crafts songs that address complex socio-economic issues with unassuming Cape Town swagger.
In 2016 St Jude collaborated with M.I.A on a H&M fashion campaign. Since then she has toured and lectured across the globe, was featured in Vogue, i-D, Noisey, Fader, Elle, Marie Clare and Okay Africa and in December she will perform at Afropunk.
