On the 22nd of October 2016, one of the most lit awards took place at The Dome in Northgate. The award ceremony was hosted by the glam queen, Bonang Mathebe and she was supported by the gorgeous ladies, Nomzamo Mbatha and Yemi Aladi. The Mtv Africa Music Awards Johannesburg 2016 had people excited and thrilled about different artists taking part at the award ceremony and they could not wait to see who would walk away with which award.
The night was full of brilliant live performances from the hit-maker of ‘Ngud‘, Kwesta. Who performed on stage with Stonebwoy and they got the crowd excited by remixing the ‘Ngud‘ track, other performances included Wizkid who wowed the crowd with his magical performance with The Soweto Gospel Choir.
With so many talented musicians in the country, a lot of these musicians have had an influence of where music is today, they paved the way to make sure that any artist is free to produce whichever music they want. This is why it’s essential to thank them, artists like Hugh Masekela have created music and it was great to see that the Legend Award being given to Hugh Masekela.
An emotional and heart touching tribute to the late Mandoza, by the likes of Mdu, Dj Cleo and Trompies was probably the most beautiful part of the award ceremony.
Award ceremonies like these always manage to bring different people together and it’s always great to know that artists can work and support each other no matter where they come from.
