There has been a lot of doubt going Ifani’s way since he announced his ambition to sell 20,000 copies on his first day of release. And for the first time in South African hip hop, an artist has gone gold on the first day of the album release. Ifani just dropped I Believes In Me: 2nd Quadrant yesterday after it’s been on iTunes since the beginning of the year for pre-orders.
The rapper confirmed the news this morning on Twitter after he posted a picture standing with a gold certification plaque presented to him by Sony Executives Zakes Bantwini and Bradley Williams.
Ifani’s 13 track album features artists like Beat boxer/rapper George Avakian and platinum selling artist Donald. He kept the list of features minimal but has brought him great success in just 24hours. Ifani dropped the single ‘Settle Down’ and has been been getting amazing responses on radio and social media. He’s previous album got him a Best Rap Album award at the SAMA’s last year.
Could it possibly do the same in 2015/2016? Let us know what you think!
