In our 10 year anniversary issue that’s currently on shelves, we hit up every local artist that ever had a cover of HYPE – and Scoop graced the cover alongside Choco Seruno, Larryngitis, Kid X and Smashis. Remember dis?
We got an exclusive with Scoop – check out what you didn’t get to read in the magazine (But remember to still buy it!)
What has changed [with you and with the game] from the time that we did the cover to now?
With me I had my first feature on a track this year thanks to Riky Rick. Boyz N Bucks is slowly becoming a household name when it comes to talking music. It wasn’t like that before. As far as the game goes I think now guys are more vocal about who they are competing with… but are not vocal about why.
In your opionion, what is the biggest challenge facing the youth and the progression of culture?
Education, record execs who don’t know what they’re doing, and brands who use the culture to sell their products but won’t put money in the pockets of our artists.
As a day 1 member of the culture, what is your birthday wish not just for HYPE, but for hip hop moving forward?
I wish we could feed families and we could own our own culture ’cause if we don’t we gonna find it being used by corporate sharks to push their endeavors. Hip hop is our baby. We must raise and take care of it so the next generation coming can also use it as their tool to deal with their struggles.
