Riky Rick & Street carnival madness!

Redd’s has brought Mzansi’s unique cultures to life with the official launch of the Redd’s Street Carnivals, with the series of five events which will take place across the country over the next year. The launch event held at the eclectic Sir James venue in Kramerville Sandton, was teeming with culturally inspired areas within the venue, masks and over-the-top outfits, as the brand launched South Africa’s distinctive carnivals that will be taking place in 5 cities across the country.

0034 REDDSThe who’s who of South Africa’s über-trendy including Lunga Shabalala; Sinzo Yolwa; Chad Saaiman; Maps Maponyane; Mthokozisi Yende and more were treated to a feast for the senses. This included talented beat boxer Jean Kitenge as the MC, and performances from leading Hip Hop DJs Major League and Ricky Rick. Guests were taken on an interactive journey of contagious, exuberant moments as each of the 5 cities were revealed.

SAB’s General Manager of the Flavoured Alcoholic Beverages (FAB) portfolio Micah Naidoo said the brand was inspired by people’s love for the idea of street carnival. “We hope to bring communities together in true Redds style by celebrating the people, places and music together. Carnival is the ideal event to celebrate the wonderful diversity of culture and talent in our beautiful country.”

The Redds Street Carnivals, also sees the brand partnering with CAN DO!, the consumer facing brand of Southern Africa’s leading beverage packaging manufacturer, Nampak Bevcan, who have over the past year been connecting young adults with great local music through their Refresh Tour. According to Naidoo the relationship was the perfect fit for the brands Street Carnival campaign: “We are also donating the after party ticket sale proceeds of each carnival to local arts and culture organisations to help develop carnival culture in those cities.”

Redd’s will be opening up street carnivals in Bloemfontein, Durban, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Nelspruit. The spectacular processions will weave their way through the city grids, with each city putting together a carnival that promises an amazing display, ending at an after party for adult consumers, featuring an explosive mix of South Africa’s leading artists, fused with a surprise line-up of eclectic acts, including performances from Major League, Jean Kitenge and Riky Rick.
