The Carter season is almost upon us! Lil Wayne has been giving us glimpses of what to expect from his forthcoming Tha Carter V album, having recently released his latest single Grindin, and now he’s finally revealed not only the release date but the album cover as well! The much anticipated album is due on 28 October and could potentially be Wayne’s last solo outing, as he’s been murmuring about retirement since around 2012.
Meanwhile, in keeping up with the theme of the previous albums in his Tha Carter series, the artwork of Tha Carter V features a younger and innocent Lil Wayne – but this time with his mother. “I always go with a baby picture, and I wanted to go with one with my mom on it this time,” he told ESPN Sports Centre in a recent interview. However, his mum had no idea that she’d be featured on her son’s album cover! “I’m sorry, moms. I didn’t tell her about the picture that I was using for the album cover,” he said. “I don’t think she’s going to be upset but I know personally that she don’t really like that picture of herself ’cause she’s not looking in the camera.”
