This past weekend may as well have been crowned KDot weekend. The Compton rapper performed in Durban, JHB and CT this weekend and what a performance! At his concert at the Johannesburg Stadium on Saturday night, the venue was packed to capacity with rappers and fans coming out in numbers to witness the amazing performance by the Grammy nominated star.
Paying tribute to Nelson Mandela, the rapper asked for the lights to be switched off and for people to light up their cell phones. Lamar was an absolute beast who brought the energy, rhyme and flows… damn what an entertainer! Later on he asked his young nephew to join him on stage and it was an explosion of talent.
The fans where singing along to each and every song he performed and Kendrick promised his fans that he’d be back for another show in Johannesburg due to the reception he got, feeling really at home. The concert was attended by fans as far as Botwana, Namibia & Swaziland for the love of the extraordinary lyricist. And a big salute to opening acts Khuli Chana, Morafe, Cassper Nyovest, Reason & Kabelo, DJ Dimplez & Red Button, AB Crazy, Blaze & DJ Cosmo. It was a great night to celebrate hip hop.
