The Second annual SA Hip Hop Awards took place on Wednesday 20 November at The Alex Theatre in Braamfontein where the hottest artists, celebs and hip hop enthusiasts gathered to celebrate an honour the best in the game. Cassper Nyovest walked away with the most awards for the evening, four to be exact, followed by two wins for DJ Dimplez. A real shock on the night was the radio award which went to 5fm – over The Full Clip? No disrespect, but Siz and Scoop really deserved that one! I guess it teaches fans to VOTE next time around.
Now this ain’t hip hop without a lil’ competition right? Most artists put in made work and campaigns – but they didn’t all pay off. It was sad to see many artists leaving empty handed but, as Zuluboy put it, it ain’t about awards (or maybe that’s because he didn’t leave with one?). When it comes to public voting there will always be a bit of contention but that’s the nature of the game. Not everyone’s gonna be happy. Anyhow, let’s check out the complete list of winners:
