Saturday 27 July is where it’s at as the semi-final of the Sprite Uncontainable event goes down at Club Zen at Maboneng Precinct, J-Sec. This year the number of competition entries broke records with the judges (Reason, Falko & Simba) going through thousands of entries to get to the TOP 24 in the categories: graffiti, emceeing and dance.
The final event goes down at Zone 6 in Soweto on 25 August and check this out: THE WINNERS IN EACH CATEGORY WILL BE FLOWN TO NEW ORLEANS, USA, FOR THE GLBOAL SPRITE UNCONTAINABLE FESTIVAL! Now ain’t that something! Before the finals go down the 12 semi-finalists selected will be treated to mentorship programmes personally done by the judges on 7 & 8 August.
“Sprite has identified the hip hop platform as a form of self-expression and the growth of the campaign has meant that more people have found their voice,” explained Hlukani Rikhotso, Sprite Senior Brand Manager.
Online and sms public voting has opened – users have to register on www.Spritehiphop.co.za and can vote for their most uncontainable talent up to three times daily. If the user has a second mobile number, different from the one he registered online with, he is able to vote a further three times daily via sms. The sms charge is R1.50 per entry.
“Mentorship is an important foundation for any aspiring artist in the game and with the opportunity of a Sprite® Uncontainable global experience, this element is sure to add much needed value to the winners future plans,” concluded Rikhotso.
