MTV Art Beat Short Video Competition: To Uplift & Empower SA Creative Talent

MTV is presenting an opportunity to emerging and talented South African creatives to boost their careers in the fields of broadcasting and design.As of 3 July 2013, the channel is launching MTV Art Beat, a project aiming to uplift and empower young South African designers.

Existing or recently graduated design students are encouraged to showcase their skills by creating a video clip or short film that embodies and portrays the MTV brand. Each clip must contain an MTV logo in some shape or form, and explore one of the following themes:

  • Smart and Fun is the New Rock ‘n’ Roll
  • Super-Now and Fast Forward
  • Warm is the New Cool
  • Celebrate Heroes Big and Small

Applicants should be between 18-25 and studying at any South African tertiary education institution or recently graduated students who have been working for less than 2 years in the broadcast/content industry.

MTV will broadcast the best clips from 2 September 2013. The ultimate winner will be offered a six-week internship at MTV HQ in Johannesburg, and they’ll be learning and working alongside prominent industry experts.

Applicants can take part by submitting a video clip of between 15-30 seconds in length on a CD or flash drive to Pippa Tshabalala, Viacom International Media Networks Africa, 1 Saxon Road, Hyde Park, Johannesburg. Clips must be in the format of Quicktime.MOV, PRORES 422(HQ) 1920X1080 or XDCAM HD1080i50 (50Mb/s).
