Dream Team SA made an official announcement yesterday morning of their signing on of Xhosa rap extraordinaire, iFani. iFani, previously with Sony Music South Africa, now joins an impressive stable of talent under Dream Team SA who manage the likes of Terry Petho, Kabelo Mabalane (TkZee), Tumisho Masha, Thembi Seete and most notably, Khuli Chana.
iFani has not had the easiest journey. Between his fallout with former manager, Thapelo TTP and the battle for the rights to the music recorded during their tenure together that ensued, it’s been one rocky situation after another. He’s also been on the grind since early 2011 when he dropped his first radio single and video ‘Ewe’, which, according to us, should have catapulted him to stardom but only enjoyed moderate success and underwhelming radio spins. But since the release of ‘See Live’ his fortune began to change and today, he has one of the biggest singles in the country in the form of ‘Shake’ and has just dropped his album I Believes In Me.
“I’m very honoured, I feel blessed that a team of hard and smart working people can see value in what I do and are happy to push me even further. I can finally see my dreams getting closer and closer. Tjovitjo, b’reiy!!!” he said of the new partnership.
Going by what Dreamteam has done for Khuli Chana after the independent release of MotswakOriginator almost four years ago, it looks like things are about to get a lot sweeter for iFani. Can you say “Ching Ching!”?
