Snoop Lion Heads Back To South Africa

MTV Base seems to be on a roll with international artists this year. A few weeks ago, they were responsible for your sister’s frenzies when they brought out R&B artists Miguel for performances in Johannesburg and Pretoria. Now they have announced that Snoop Lion will be headlining the channel’s new youth empowerment campaign MTV Africa All Stars, of which the first edition is to be held on 18 May.

Of course Snoop has visited South Africa a few times before in the past decade and apart from that time he got arrested at the airport for carrying a boat-load or weed on him and his performance had to be postponed, all his appearances have maintained a pretty uhm “high” standard.

Snoop said of the event: “This is the motherland and a place of so much history and strife. I hope that this concert reminds us it is also a place of joy, love, celebration and peace – which is very much in line with where I am as an artist right now. I want to thank all the incredible artists joining me and props to MTV for sharing this important moment with the world.”

MTV Africa All Stars – KwaZulu-Natal Province will be going down at Moses Mabhida Stadium, People’s Park, Durban and will be broadcasted around the world as part of MTV’s acclaimed World Stage franchise on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) and MTV’s global TV network.

Word on the street is that the concert will also feature a few other major names that have not been announced yet so keep your ear to ground. We got you.
