Kanye Goes off at the Grammys, Jay Z and Major Corporations

Firstly, this is not a surprise at all. In fact, the only thing surprising about this is that Kanye West didn’t explode into one of his seasonal crazy rants sooner. Especially recently cos well, in the past year he’s been in the company of Kim Kardashian a whole lot (we know she’s hotter than Satan’s armpits but she strikes us the person you would not want on your team in a game of 30 Seconds). Okay, we kid. But it has been a while since the Louis Vuitton Don ran his mouth and his recent case of verbal diarrhea while performing in London last week shows that ‘Ye clearly has a lot on his mind.

As with his concert in South Africa a few weeks ago, Kanye let the beat ride to speak to the fans after performing his verse on ‘Clique’. But we weren’t lucky enough to get a rant about how he hates business people and why money isn’t everything. Yeezy got very emotional in a clumsily executed freestyle and ranted about how once upon a time no-one cared who he was and now major brands are on his dick to put up branding at his concerts and exploit him for mileage. He continued into a rage about how he values creativity over everything, repeating “Remind me again why we in this shit? Since when was making music about getting rich?” And then dagger came in the form of “Remind me again why the Grammys can suck my dick. Remind me again who’s the original super fly. And I got love for Hov but I fucking with that ‘Suit and Tie’ ” and had the crowd roaring in shock and delight.

We already know about Kanye’s evil stepmother relationship with the Grammys so we won’t dwell on that too much. Regarding that other thing he said, in case you are unaware, Jay Z (Hov) features on Justin Timberlake’s comeback single ‘Suit and Tie’ and both artists will be touring parts of America together on a tour of the same name. One interpretation could be that by “suit and tie” he was cleverly referring to bureaucracy, as he previously mentions hating business people. And the other interpretation could be that he just hates the song (it really isn’t the greatest thing we’ve heard from either JT or Hov), which wouldn’t surprise us at all. We’ll go with that one ‘cause we’re a magazine and that means that we are part of an industry that thrives on controversy and shortcomings of the people who make the music that we love. Yeah, let’s go with that one.
