Ricky Rick and Cassper Nyovest Bring Back the 90s

In light of that dreaded colossal occasion that is Valentine’s Day (unless you are Khanyi Mbau and probably receiving a Lamborghini), musicians typically release music to take advantage of the whipped and love drunk of world.

Among the music released yesterday (including songs from Banky W, Tumi and Reason) was a brand new drop from the currently very active Cassper Nyovest. Cassper called upon the expertise of rapper/producer Riky Rick for the song entitled ‘Girlfriend’, which is a  smooth medley of 90s inspired sounds (the drums are sampled from ‘Impeach the President’ by The Honey Dippers, also sampled on Nas’ ‘I Can’) complemented with a new school feel and simple flows.

Riky has reportedly been very busy in studio since his sabbatical in Las Angeles during most of 2012, recording with L-tido for his anticipated 2013 release. Cassper Nyovest also released a ‘Fucking Problem’ remix a few weeks ago and is expected to drop his debut album Tsholofelo in June this year.
