Earlier this week EspAfrika, along with Meropa, hosted a press conference in Rosebank. The press conference was to announce the final lineup of 40 performers from 12 different countries, who will take part in the two day event on the five stages at the CICC, taking place on 5 and 6 April. The proceedings started off with all in attendance, paying their last respects to fallen jazz legend Victor Ntoni (who was billed to perform at the festival).
We must say this year’s lineup looks very solid and EspAfrika keeps raising the bar, with a diverse of performers representing jazz, hip hop, dubstep, r n b and dance music. This year’s headlining act includes Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Jill Scott. Scott has promised that nothing will prevent her from performing at this year’s festival. Other performers include AKA with Khuli Chana, Brother Ali, Thandiswa Mazwai, Ben Sharpa with Pure Solid, Micasa, Zonke, Robert Glasper Experiment and many more. To check out the full list of performers go to www.capetownjazzfest.com. HYPE will be there to capture “the grandest African gathering”. Tickets are on sale on Computicket.
