Hip Hop and Rock and Roll go back a long way, but officially made friends in the mid -80s through the now legendary RUN DMC/AEROSMITH collaboration Walk This Way. Hip Hop has always carried the rebellious genes of rock who is suspected to be one of raps several baby daddies among Jazz and other genres. It is a small wonder then that whenever the two get together it is almost always a union bound to uplift people from their social ills. Hip Hop Rocking 4 Books is one such collaboration whose aim is to deliver on Hip Hops promise to the ghetto to “Do The Knowledge”
Happening on the 3rd November 2012, at Vosloorus Square, this interactive event will bring together Hip hop and Rock performers and entertainers such as Dj Quake, Rebirth, Qba, Veedot, Yugen Blackrock , Facing The Gallows to name just a few. The initiative aims to donate books to local schools and promote library projects in the area. Join the movement. Be there and be the change!
