On the eve of the 25th anniversary of MJ’s BAD album, award winning filmmaker Spike Lee is in the final stages of post production of a Michael Jackson doccie along with the Estate of Michael Jackson and Legacy/Epic Records.
The film, which will be released on 18 September, will focus mainly on the album and its worldwide tour – a behind the scenes look at the iconic album which changed the history of music. If you were a kid in the 80s you’d remember how long the album stayed on the charts. It was number one around the globe, produced 10 singles and 9 groundbreaking videos. Don’t even front like you didn’t do those moves from the songs ‘Smooth Criminal’ or ‘Bad’.
Lee, who worked with Michael in the past on his video for ‘They Don’t Care About us’ interviews forty people who worked with Jackson through that time period of the Bad album and after, including the likes of Mariah, LA Reid, Kanye West and Cee Lo Green
About the film, Lee said: “I’m more than just a huge fan of Michael Jackson, and having the chance to actually know him and work with him, I deeply care about his legacy. With this BAD project I was able to uncover just what made this such a huge, important coming of age in his career and unearth compelling stories surrounding the making of the album, the long awaited follow-up to Thriller – the best selling album of all time – the short films and the tour that may have never seen the light of day.
A BAD 25 two CD standard edition featuring the original album plus the CD of demos and new remixes will also be made available as will a stand alone edition of the DVD and a picture disc of the original album
