For those of us that who the frenzy of reality TV doesn’t appeal to, there is one particular show we can make an exception for. Big Brother Africa has a perfect score when it comes to the calibre of their guest performances. Their repertoire includes both local and international acts such as AKA, Busta Rhymes, L-tido, Ice Prince, Banky W, Bow Wow, Da Les, and the list goes on. On Monday morning this week, it was rumoured that Roc Nation signee J Cole would be headlining the opening of the seventh season of the show which will be airing this year. The rumour was confirmed by M-Net’s Managing Director, Biola Alabi: “The show is built on the idea that anyone can be a star, anyone can find themselves shot to stardom,” she said. She continued to say “Of course we’re thrilled that we can kick off Big Brother Stargame (as it is titles this year) with an international star whose incredible talent is making him one of the hottest names in music today. J Cole is fast becoming a superstar, an amazing artist who is taking the world by storm. We are very pleased that he will be performing for the first time I Africa on our stage.” Not more pleased than we hip hop headz are! Cole is scheduled to be performing three songs at the Big Brother opening. And for those of us that are not fortunate enough to be invited to the event (hint, hint Channel O) Channel O will be shooting a special insert on Cole about his life and career during his brief stay in SA so look out for that.
