SURVIVAL IS MY ONLY CRIME
Upcoming hip hop artist Goodie 2 has just dropped his anticipated brand new EP called Survival Is My Only Crime (SIMOC). This new project comes after the success of Goodie 2’s Monday Blues EP, which could not have been ignored as the quality and quite abstract sound delivery stood out. And if you haven’t heard of Goodie 2 yet than this latest EP is surely set to make you a believer.
“So basically I was just working on a couple of tracks, just recording and making beats. One day (I guess) I was just in a certain mood and I bumped J.Cole, I actually got that title (SIMOC) from J.Cole.” – Goodie 2
SIMOC is made-up of 8 tracks in total and continues Goodie’s alternative music build-up that will probably solidify itself within the hip hop scenes, especially during these open-minded times. Trying to figure out Goodie 2 is probably going to be a difficult task, as considering how every new artist is handling their sonic image right now, one would not really be able to guess what Goodie is made-up of.
“It’s true in a way because what we really trying to do is survive and keep our legacy going I guess. Honestly I’ve been making music since I was probably like in grade 4, so my music has just always been different and evolved. I’ve never really just tried to blend in with the hip hop market. We are just making music to just express how we feel” – Goodie 2
How you digest SIMOC will solely be dependent on how the new EP makes you feel. The pure essence of project is ideally carried outby the artist to the listener and with this one you will unavoidably be evoked in one way or another. As the deep and in-depth content makes you think, the instrumentals will unconscionably affect you.
“I really feel like I don’t have a style because I can literally get on any beat but that’s not the point. I really don’t have a style. It’s what I feel at the moment” – Goodie 2
“I want people to be able to relate to my current situation. I know there are a lot of people out there like me and I know I’m not the only person that feels the way I do when I wake up or when I go through the daily motions of life” – Goodie 2
