TRIPS 218 EP: A Journey of Love, Loss, and Joy Across Genres

South African artist Skypstar Nozinator is set to release his highly anticipated third project, TRIPS 218 EP, on September 28, 2025. The six-track collection is a genre-bending body of work that fuses hip hop, pop, reggaeton, and Afrobeat, offering listeners a global sound while staying rooted in personal storytelling.

The EP’s title, TRIPS 218, carries a deeply personal meaning. It reflects a pivotal month in the artist’s life — February 2018 — a time marked by the highest of highs and the deepest of lows. “That month I proposed to my girlfriend, and she surprised me with a BMW the same day. It felt like everything was perfect,” he recalls. But just weeks later, tragedy struck. His business partner and co-founder of Mzansi Monate Records, Abel Bachmann, drowned on his honeymoon.

Half of the beats on TRIPS 218 were created by the artist and Abel back in 2017. To honor that legacy, Abel’s younger brother Alex Bachmann (aka Kyle Keeble) stepped in, providing vocals and hooks while helping complete the EP. Despite the challenge of working long-distance between Geneva and Maputo, the project came together in just two weeks. Drawing from verses and choruses written between 2012–2016, the songs carry the raw emotion and timeless hunger of his earlier years.

For the artist, this EP isn’t just music — it’s memory, resilience, and reflection. “TRIPS 218 reminds me of a time when I felt like forever existed. But just like any trip, no matter how amazing, you always have to come back to reality,” he explains.
