The Wrecking Crew member, Flame, has really personified the meaning of his moniker… Previously over looked during his Ambitiouz days, Flame has positioned himself as a huge contender in the hip hop game. It seems like there’s no wrong Flame can do when it come to the music because each single,collaboration or project he has a hand in just seems to be fire. Flame’s energy & delivery is one of the most unique in SA hip hop and this is a super power we couldn’t ignore.

ROWLENE

If you haven’t heard about Rowlene then you kind of have to be ashamed of yourself because this South African singer songwriter is nothing less than special. Birthed in Cape Town, Rowlene’s artistry has gained her a massive following in the game. Whether your discovery of her came through her collaborative efforts with Nasty C or her project called Evolution Of A Robot, Rowlene’s consistency in improving her art deserves some high respect.

ASTRYD BROWN

Late last year and early 2018 Astryd Brown really convinced the game that she’s in it to win it. Her presence has steadily been on the rise since she started off dropping the hits. With a sound that differentiates her from the rest, Astryd is another serious player that has her sight on joining the front pack.

Acid has undoubtedly become one of the loudest voices amongst the youth that has already granted him the respect of a powerful artist on the rise. Rapper/songwriter Espiquet gained huge attention after he got a co-sign from Riky through his ‘Wait Outside’ remixed joint. Even before that Espiquet had been bubbling under and this year we have a good feeling that he’s about to get the respect and attention that he truly deserves.

Pretoria based artist, Tronpyre is slowly creeping up the game’s ladder and has the huge potential to become a great artist. His artistic approach to music and emotive sonic deliveries have made him a target to keep your eye on as we believe that Tronpyre is a name that is probably going to be spoken about a lot real soon.

ASON

ASON is an exciting wave in the game that has some eyes locked on what he’s got next. Last year the young artist gained our attention through his music and this year we believe that he’s only got one way to take himself in the game which is up.

FOCALISTIC

Cap City has had a pretty solid time birthing out new talents in the game and Focalistic is a name we know too well. The young rising star already has a huge number of fans backing him up and its only a matter of time until he crosses over to become one of the leaders of the new wave, that’s if he already isn’t.

ESPACIO DIOS

Young Espacio Dios is a name we know quite well too. His approach to music is pretty hard to ignore especially after dropping off his Percussive Planet EP that, for many, acted as an introductory sonic experience of Espacio Dios. Whether you recognize the many co-signs he has received in the game (one strongly being from Anatii) or not, Espacio Dios will always remain a rare gem that the game has to offer.

3PLE B

Remember when we mentioned how we would be closely checking out artists getting some impressive plays on HYPE Music? Well 3ple B has gotten our attention. Born Busisiwe Soba and hailing all the way from Randfontein, 3ple B’s passion and drive towards her music has convinced us that she deserves to a freshman spotlight. Her first official EP titled B.O.T.D (Because Of These Dreams) quickly became one of the most played on HYPE Music and we’ve of course noticed her determination to keep her status outside of the platform which we highly appreciate.

DEE KOALA

Here is another HYPE Music discovered artist called Dee Koala who is really a rising star to look out for this year. Based all the way in Cape Town, Khayelitsha to be specific, Dee Koala (real name Odwa Situma) is quite an interesting act to witness. Her music has gained her some impressive plays on HYPE Music but its huge potential that has earned her a spot to become a freshman.

PATRICKXXLEE

Its no hidden truth that PatricKxxLee has become a loud voice among-st the youth since stepping into the game to f*ck things up. Patrick’s journey has always been closely watched and for him to not get a freshman candidate nod sort of made no sense. And if you hadn’t heard of the ARTIS Records artist until now then you’re welcome.

RICCO

Hailing all the way from MP, Ricco has undoubtedly become another hot artist to keep your eyes on. The Raw X Studio artist has steadily built up his hip hop CV since stepping the scene. His artistic aesthetics are quite different from the rest and its that difference that always keeps in on radar. Hopefully he can take it all the way this year…

TIAN

Tian as an artist we first discovered on our HYPE Music platform because he has become one of the most played artist on there. The rapper/producer has a huge potential to f*ck sh*t up with his music as he already delivers a qualitative approach to his music. Tian’s chances of becoming a strong contender in the game are in his favor trust us!

Durban based artist, Robin Thirdfloor, has also gained quite a unique following solely because of the music. The ‘Somdanger’ hit maker is definitely at the forefront of offering a different sonic experience within the game and this year we trust he’ll be getting more of the attention that he deserves.

Ambitouz Entertainment’s Neo really started the year off hard when the game caught the attention of his smash hit ‘Amalevels’. Having already got into the game some time ago, this year just seems to be different for the artist as he has gained quite a huge number of praises not only from the public but majority of the whole entertainment industry.

Singer/songwriter Naye Ayla has been in our radar for some time and we thought it was finally time to give her our full attention by handing her a freshman candidate spotlight. Frequent B3nchMarQ collaborator 3TWO1 has had quite a buzzing couple of months. The Lemapi Entertainment member has leveled up his game by delivering some note worthy solo records into the scene. We trust that his solo effects are soon to take him to greater heights and his collaborations with B3nchMarQ have proved to be of good benefit for his career.

SIMS

ATM artist, Sims, first came into the scene when dropped his ‘Bob Marley’ smash record and since then he has been active lending his voice on a couple of features. Sims is really a unique artist that we trust has all the qualities to blow up in the game. Hopefully after this you’ll understand why we had to give him a freshman candidate spotlight.

Singer/songwriter Kimosabe has been putting in the work for some time now.
