After a landmark Autumn/Winter season, Soweto Fashion Week is back. The Spring/Summer 2026 season takes place from 5 to 7 November 2026 in Jabulani, Soweto.
Spring/Summer has a rhythm of its own. The palettes open up. Designers explore
movement, print and colour. The references get more vivid, more alive. It is the season that reminds you why fashion exists in the first place. SS2026 comes at a moment when South African fashion is stepping onto a bigger stage.
Designers from this country are gaining international recognition, and the demand for homegrown creativity has never been stronger.
Day 1 – Emerging Designers Bloc
Opening night offers a first look at the faces shaping the future of South African design. Nine emerging designers take to the runway, among them RFL Studios, Zimisele and Shirley Joseph alongside fashion students from the University of Johannesburg and Tshwane University of Technology.
Day 2 – Main Show
The second night features Mbobo Movement, the patchwork and denim brand of Luthando Mbobo, who returns to the SFW runway this season having made his debut in the AW2026 emerging designers bloc. His progression to the main show is one of the stories of this season.
“Every season is a chance to grow, but this one feels different. Since last year’s
show, Mbobo Movement picked up a nomination for Best Emerging Fashion
Designer at the South Africa Fashion Awards and we took the brand into
children’s fashion at SA Kids Fashion Week. A lot has happened. This spring, we
are bringing all of that to the main stage. Expect bold colours, a real celebration
of who we are as South Africans, and a collection that carries stories you can
feel,” says Luthando Mbobo of Mbobo Movement.
The night also features Precious Lulu Couture and the KwaZulu Fashion Hut, Originally Kasified, and more.
Day 3 – Main Show
The final night closes the season with a lineup that brings together fashion and the arts. Television presenter Ayanda Nhlapo brings her brand, House of Ayanda, to the runway. Afro-soul and R&B singer Wanda Baloyi presents Wanda Wear by Wanda Baloyi, also on the final night: Hoss by Sass by Sanele Thabethe, Dope Store, and more.
Over three days at Soweto Theatre, the runway will tell a story that is uniquely South African. From opening night through to the final show, each collection adds another voice to a conversation about where local design is going and what it stands for.
Tickets are available on Webtickets. Prices start from R150.
