South African author, entrepreneur and business leader Kalene Oliver is entering a new chapter with the growth of Grand Crest Travel, a premium travel management company creating seamless, personalised journeys for discerning travellers.
Specialising in luxury African safaris, bespoke international travel and tailored travel solutions for individuals and corporate clients, Grand Crest Travel reflects Oliver’s growing focus on the intersection of luxury, tourism and African experiences.
Following the release of her debut book, She’s a Hot Mess, Oliver is now turning her attention towards the travel sector, marking a deliberate new chapter in her professional journey.
Grand Crest Travel began in March 2026 as a side venture before Oliver relaunched the business with a full-time focus. In a short period, the business has gained significant traction, reinforcing her belief in the opportunity within premium travel and African tourism.
“As a writer, I’ve always been drawn to stories, experiences and adventure, so travel feels like a very natural space for me,” says Oliver. “With Grand Crest, I’m able to take that love for travel and turn it into experiences for other people, while showcasing South Africa and the incredible destinations we have across Africa. I want people to come away from a journey with us feeling like they’ve experienced something they’ll remember for the rest of their lives.”
Grand Crest operates across both inbound and outbound travel, with a particular focus on luxury African safaris for international guests, alongside bespoke outbound travel for South Africans and corporate clients.
For Oliver, the opportunity extends beyond selling travel. She sees an opportunity to contribute to how Africa is experienced by international travellers while creating highly considered journeys for clients travelling both within and beyond the continent.
“Africa has extraordinary destinations, stories and experiences, and there is a real opportunity to position the continent at the centre of the global luxury travel conversation. I want Grand Crest to be part of that conversation while delivering experiences that feel personal, effortless and memorable.”
Oliver’s new focus also positions her for a role in conversations around entrepreneurship, international tourism trends, luxury travel and the future of African tourism.
With Grand Crest Travel now at the centre of her professional focus, Oliver is building a business with ambitions to contribute meaningfully to the premium travel ecosystem while establishing herself as a voice within the evolving luxury tourism landscape.
