What To Expect at FAME Week Africa 2026

Hype Fam, if you’re serious about taking your creative career to the next level, this is one to have on your radar.  From 28–30 October 2026, FAME Week Africa returns to CTICC2 in Cape Town, bringing together the people shaping Africa’s film, television, music, fashion and creator industries. Expect three days of networking, industry conversations, pitching opportunities and connections that could open doors to your next big move.

With 211 speakers and more than 80 buyers and commissioning editors expected, FAME Week Africa is creating space for creatives, artists, producers and entrepreneurs to connect with the people who can help bring their ideas to life.  Making great music or creating dope content is one thing. Understanding the business, protecting your intellectual property and getting your work in front of the right people is another.

FAME Week Africa will tackle conversations around music rights, royalties, AI, distribution, financing, intellectual property and the future of African storytelling. Through its ConnectMe platform, delegates can schedule meetings ahead of the event, making it easier to connect with potential partners, buyers and industry decision-makers.  MultiChoice Group, a CANAL+ company, will also host discussions bringing together senior voices from MultiChoice, CANAL+ and STUDIOCANAL to unpack audience trends, commissioning priorities and what producers need to know when pitching projects.

The 2026 lineup includes Kim Jayde, Thando Thabethe, Thabo Rametsi, Flavia Motsisi and Mimi Bartels, alongside filmmakers, musicians, actors, producers, creators and entertainment executives from across Africa and beyond.  Women shaping the creative industries will also take centre stage, with discussions around representation, leadership and building sustainable careers. Lorcia Cooper is set to deliver the keynote at the African Women in Entertainment Breakfast, powered by RAY Content Hub.

France takes centre stage as FAME Week Africa’s 2026 Destination Country, opening more opportunities for African and French creatives to explore collaborations across film, television, fashion, music and other creative industries.  The programme kicks off on 27 October with French Night at the Homecoming Centre, featuring the African premiere of Le Fantôme de l’Opéra.  For African creatives looking to expand beyond local borders, these conversations could be an opportunity to explore international partnerships and take homegrown stories to new audiences.

This year also marks two major milestones in the local screen industry: 50 years of SABC television and a decade of Netflix in South Africa.  Both milestones highlight how far the country’s entertainment industry has come, from the stories that shaped generations of viewers to South African productions finding audiences around the world.

For the next generation of filmmakers, producers and storytellers, the question is how we build on that foundation and create even more opportunities for local talent.  FAME Week Africa extends beyond panel discussions and formal meetings. Delegates can explore special installations, connect over coffee at the RAY Content Hub Café and engage with Muziki Africa, where music rights, royalties, sync licensing and monetisation will be on the agenda.

The wider programme also includes Music Week, the Pretty Loud Summit, Music Exchange, the African Fashion Forum and Tastes + Threads, which brings fashion, food, music and storytelling together under the theme Threads of Africa: From the Streets to the World.  The Inclusive Lens Awards, powered by Earcandy and hosted by Siv Ngesi, will celebrate LGBTQ+, disability and children’s representation on screen.  And for the film lovers, the FAME Shorts Film Festival takes over The Rockefeller Hotel from 30 October to 1 November, screening 36 films across three days.

Whether you’re an independent artist, a music executive, a filmmaker, a creative entrepreneur or someone looking to break into the industry, FAME Week Africa is an opportunity to get in the room, learn how the business works and connect with people who can help move your vision forward.  Sometimes, the next step in your career starts with one introduction, one conversation or one pitch.

FAME Week Africa takes place from 28–30 October 2026 at CTICC2 in Cape Town.
