Represent Opens First African Flagship Store at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront

British luxury streetwear brand Represent officially made its South African retail debut on 15 August 2026, opening its first African flagship store at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront and marking the start of its expansion across the continent.

For more than a decade, Represent has built a global community around its distinct approach to British luxury streetwear, combining premium craftsmanship, considered design and contemporary culture. Founded in 2011 by brothers George and Michael Heaton, the brand has grown from its British roots into an internationally recognised name with a loyal following across fashion, streetwear and performance.

The opening in Cape Town brings that world to South African consumers in a physical space for the first time. Located at Shop 7217 on the Upper Level of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, the store offers customers an immersive introduction to the Represent universe, housing the brand’s latest collections alongside a dedicated 247 space showcasing its performance and elevated everyday essentials.

Represent’s South African footprint will continue to grow with the opening of a second store at Sandton City in Johannesburg in October 2026. The expansion into one of the country’s leading retail destinations marks the next step in the brand’s local growth, extending its physical presence beyond Cape Town and bringing Represent to a new audience in Johannesburg.

Entrepreneur Victor Barbosa and his business partner, Byron Ryan, are leading Represent’s expansion into Africa, bringing their experience and understanding of the local retail landscape to the venture. They are joined by world-renowned South African DJ Shimza (Ashley Raphala), a long-time admirer of the brand, who joins as a partner in the venture, bringing together retail expertise, cultural influence, and a shared ambition for the brand’s future on the continent.

“We are excited to bring Represent to the South African market and see the potential for the brand across Africa,” said George Heaton, Co-Founder of Represent. “South Africa has developed a strong appreciation for premium streetwear, and we believe this is the right time to introduce the physical Represent experience to both the community that already knows and supports us and a new generation discovering the brand for the first time. Together with our local partners, we look forward to building something truly special.”

Designed by London-based Scratch Creative in collaboration with Raph and Matt Fitters, the Cape Town flagship reflects Represent’s clean, premium aesthetic and translates the brand’s international retail identity into its first permanent African home.

Opening at the V&A Waterfront gives Represent a strong entry point into South Africa, connecting the brand with local and international audiences in one of the country’s most established fashion, lifestyle and luxury retail destinations.

Together, the Cape Town flagship and forthcoming Johannesburg store establish a growing physical presence for Represent in South Africa, building on the brand’s existing digital community while creating new opportunities for consumers to experience its collections, craftsmanship and culture in person.

Further strengthening its local presence, Represent will launch an official South African website towards the end of 2026, giving customers across the country direct online access to the brand and its collections. The dedicated local platform will complement Represent’s expanding retail footprint and play an important role in the brand’s long-term growth in the South African market.
