A’ja Wilson’s case as the greatest player in WNBA history is becoming harder to argue against. At just 29, the Las Vegas Aces superstar already has four WNBA MVP awards, the most in league history, breaking the previous record of three held by legends such as Lisa Leslie, Sheryl Swoopes and Lauren Jackson.
What separates Wilson is that she isn’t just an offensive machine. She dominates on both ends of the floor. She is a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, a seven-time All-Star and a five-time All-WNBA First Team selection. In 2025, she averaged 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.3 blocks while leading the league in scoring and blocks.
Then there is the winning. Wilson has helped lead the Aces to three championships, winning titles in 2022, 2023 and 2025. She was also named Finals MVP in 2023 and 2025. In the 2025 Finals, she averaged an incredible 28.5 points, 11.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists, becoming the first player in WNBA history to win MVP, Defensive Player of the Year and Finals MVP in the same season.
Her 2024 and 2025 seasons also showed just how ridiculous her consistency has become. Wilson became the first player in WNBA history to score 1,000 points in a regular season in 2024, while in 2025 she became the only player to win four MVPs. She has also become the only WNBA player to average at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal in a season.
The GOAT debate will always include legends like Diana Taurasi, Cynthia Cooper, Lisa Leslie and Lauren Jackson, but Wilson’s résumé is already historic. She has the individual awards, championships, defensive dominance, offensive production and postseason performances. And the scary part? A’ja Wilson is still writing the story.
