South Africa has returning Red Bull BC One National Champions. Toufeeq and Courtnaé won the South Africa National Final at Thibault Square on Saturday, 5 September, taking the two seats on offer for November’s World Final in Toronto, Canada.
The National Final brought together the winners and wildcards from South Africa’s 2026 qualifying circuit: B-Boy Bashi and B-Girl Baylie from Johannesburg, B-Boy Ranks from East London, and B-Boy Shady and B-Girl Keshia from Cape Town. Red Bull BC One is the world’s most prestigious one-on-one breaking competition. No fixed playlist, no routines, just two dancers, one circle, and a panel of judges scoring technique, originality, creativity, musicality and performance.
The National Final delivered the energy and intensity expected from one of breaking’s biggest stages, with the crowd at Thibault Square getting behind every battle as the country’s top B-Boys and B-Girls went head-to-head. The atmosphere built throughout the day, with each round bringing bigger reactions from the crowd and raising the stakes as the finalists battled for their place in Toronto. DJ Ready D kept the energy high on the decks, while performances from Priddy Ugly and Younsta CPT brought an added layer of entertainment to the day. The crowd also got a showcase of South Africa’s breaking talent through an exhibition battle from the Red Bull BC One All Stars, adding to an already electric atmosphere as the competition built towards the final battles.
The two elite breakers will now fly the South African flag at the prestigious Red Bull BC One World Final in Toronto, Canada, on November 29.
“I feel so great, 5-time champion, 4 times back-to-back. I’m just trying to push myself to the highest level that I can go, and also just trying to open that door for the next South Africans to just go through,” Toufeeq said, when being asked how it feels to take the title again and what it means to him.
When Courtnaé was asked how she feels as she takes the title for the fourth time, she said “It feels amazing. This was very personal for me, I’ve been through a lot in life and I had to do it. I had to do it, for myself more than anything else.”
Both now turn their attention to Toronto, where they will represent South Africa against the best breakers in the world.
Both National Champions now advance to the Red Bull BC One World Final in Toronto, Canada on Sunday, 29 November 2026, where they will face the world’s best B-Boys and B-Girls for the title of World Champion.
