SAMA nominee Lucille Slade, affectionately known as The Kimberley Diamond, is taking it back home with the visuals for “Die Y” — a love letter to Kimberley, its culture, and the people who continue to make the city shine.
Blending Lucille’s signature sound with Kwati, the track carries the spirit of the 053. From the Sip ’n Kwati intro to the sounds and references throughout the song, “Die Y” gives listeners an authentic taste of Kimberley while inviting the rest of the world into its story.
The music video puts the spotlight on some of Kimberley’s finest, featuring names making waves across different industries, including Thebe Magugu, Unathi Batyashe of SABC News, and Boipelo Mooketsi of 5FM. But “Die Y” is about more than the city’s famous diamond history. It’s a celebration of the diamonds the city continues to produce — the talent, excellence and culture that keeps Kimberley on the map.
You’ll see the 053 all over the visuals, and you’ll hear it in the music too. The “Die Y” music video premieres on YouTube this Friday, 21 August at 9AM. The Kimberley Diamond is shining the light back home. Die Y to the world!
