In celebration of Women’s Month, Team World Captain José María Olazábal has confirmed three-time Grand Slam champion and former World No. 1 Ash Barty for the Icons Cup South Africa.
Barty will join Team World at The Links at Fancourt in George from 11–13 December 2026, taking on Ernie Els’s Team South Africa in high-stakes match-play golf. Playing off a 2 handicap, Barty brings proven Icons Series experience and a winning record from the 2022 Icons Cup New York. She joins confirmed Team World players John Terry and Brian Lara as the 14-player squad takes shape.
Team South Africa already features AB de Villiers, Fourie du Preez, Butch James and Vernon Philander, with more names to be announced soon. The Icons Cup South Africa will see 28 world-class athletes compete across three days, with the action broadcast globally to more than 150 countries.
