Afrobeat rebel Seun Kuti and the legendary Egypt 80 have returned with a fiery new protest anthem, ‘Na Dem’, featuring Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Tom Morello.
Raw, unapologetic and politically charged, ‘Na Dem’ takes direct aim at corruption, systemic inequality and the people who profit from oppression. In true Seun Kuti fashion, the record doesn’t hold back — turning music into resistance, activism and social commentary all at once.
The track first caught fire during Seun Kuti’s explosive Coachella performance, where clips of the freestyle moment quickly went viral online. Now officially released in full studio form, ‘Na Dem’ arrives with blistering instrumentation and Tom Morello’s signature revolutionary guitar work. Speaking on the collaboration, Seun shared: “We need artists who make people reflect.”
Recorded at London’s Metropolis Studios, the single was produced by Femi Koleoso of Ezra Collective, with mixing from Riley MacIntyre and mastering by Stuart Hawkes. The result is a bold sonic collision of Afrobeat, jazz, funk and protest rock, powered by Seun’s commanding vocals and saxophone.
As the son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, Seun Kuti has spent over two decades carrying the Egypt 80 legacy forward while carving out his own lane as one of modern Afrobeat’s most fearless voices. ‘Na Dem’ follows his acclaimed 2024 album Heavier Yet (Lay The Crownless Head), which featured collaborations with Damian Marley, Sampa the Great, Kamasi Washington and more.
Currently in the middle of a global tour, the Grammy-nominated Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 are bringing ‘Na Dem’ to audiences across Europe, Oceania and the United States — this time in its fully realised studio form.
